Roberto Lo Piano, born in 1967, entered the world of powerboating through friendship. It was his friend and driver, Alessandro Barone, who introduced him to this sport, opening a door that would never close again.

He made his debut in the Italian Championship in 2006 and just three years later, he captured first the Italian title and then the World Championship, showcasing exceptional competitive maturity and an uncommon level of determination. From that moment on, he collected numerous victories as a lead driver, both in the Italian and World Championships.

2009 marked a turning point in his journey: alongside Fabio Bertolacci, he embraced a new challenge by entering his first XCAT World Championship—stepping into an even more international arena.

In 2016, he began a new partnership with Alfredo Amato, with whom he secured third place in the 3D World Championship.
In the 2025 season, together with Amato and the Al&Al Racing Team, Roberto crossed the Atlantic to compete in the APBA/RWO World Championship in the United States. He closed the Key West event with a prestigious fourth place overall and a podium finish—yet another milestone confirming the strength and value of his long sporting journey.
